If you have ever wanted to share a file such as a MS Word document with a friend that does not have the capability of opening the file (in this case does not have a copy of MS Word), you can print the document to this virtual printer, then send the file. Everybody either has (or can download for free) Adobe Acrobat Reader. Thus your friend would then be able to view the file.
